In 2013, St Mary’s had 6 girls playing with the boys and a decision was made to join the LGFA for the first time. A plan was put in place to visit the local schools and organize fun training at lunchtimes in the hope that more girls would join our club. On registration night in 2014, 24 of these young girls signed up as new members of St Mary’s.
Since then, these new members are still playing and loving the sport and participating in competitive leagues every season.
St Mary’s coaches knows that young girls who lead active lifestyles like playing Gaelic Football tend to grow into Ladies who continue in that way, and encourage others to do the same with the importance of fun, friendships and health and fitness.
In 2019, St Mary’s will be fielding an U10/U11, U12/U13 and an U14/U15 team. Due to low numbers with our U16s team, our Ladies are on permission to play with our good neighbours and friends in sport, Slane GFC for the Spring competition.
St Mary’s objective is to field an Adult team before 2022 and to bring home all the Adults Ladies who are currently playing with other local clubs.
All new girls at any age are welcome to join our club. Please contact Our Coaching Officers or our Ladies Secretary for more Info
